Program For Players With Mental & Physical Disabilities Debuts In September

Somerville Youth Soccer is extremely proud to announce that the organization will conduct its inaugural TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) Program during the Fall 2025 season, beginning in mid-September and running on a weekly basis through the end of October.

US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl who has a mental or physical disability. Our goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the US Youth Soccer family.

Supported by Mass Youth Soccer, Somerville will become the 31st community in the state to provide TOPSoccer programming.  SYS will partner with our friends at Somerville High School Athletics as well as the Somerville Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC) to provide an engaging community experience for our athletes and volunteers.

“This is an exciting opportunity for SYS to bring adaptive sports programming to our community, and we are very grateful to Tamie Endow at Mass Youth Soccer and our local partners for their support,” SYS President Dominic Lachowicz said.  “We are looking forward to growing TOPSoccer in Somerville for many years to come, as this enriching experience will have an impact on many families.”

Registration for the inaugural Somerville program will be opening in July, and the registration link and other information will be available at www.somervillesoccer.org.
