After an extremely successful year that saw growth and expanded opportunities for both organizations, Somerville Youth Soccer and Boston Vigor FC Academy have announced a three-year extension to their joint strategic partnership, which will run from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027.

The strategic partnership expanded playing and coaching opportunities, increased SYS’s access to fields, and extended SYS's reach into the diverse communities within our city, while also helping our players develop their skills within a high-level club program.

As part of this agreement, SYS will continue to provide administrative support for BVFC that includes the club’s work with the City of Somerville and its participation in the New England Club Soccer League. Boston Vigor will continue to work directly with Somerville Youth Soccer on expanding its current program offerings for both boys and girls and will enhance coaching opportunities in our city through Vigor’s strong network. The primary goal for both organizations remains the same - to get kids from all areas of the city (and nearby towns) playing together on the same soccer field.

“Our partnership with Boston Vigor proved to be beneficial for both organizations, and I’m excited that we are continuing this agreement going forward,” SYS President Dominic Lachowicz said. “We continue to share the common goal of providing opportunities for Somerville youth to play soccer at every level, and this collaboration has yielded growth, development, and enhanced outreach and inclusivity throughout both SYS’s and BVFC’s programs. I want to once again thank SYS Director of Soccer Gregory Janks and Boston Vigor FC Academy owner Wilson Teixeira for their hard work in making this all possible. We couldn’t be more excited to strengthen the mission of both organizations by working together.”

“SYS and Boston Vigor have always enjoyed a strong relationship, and our collaboration over the past year has taken those efforts to the next level,” Janks said. “Our goal is simple - to provide children with the chance to play together and maximize their potential by creating a compassionate but challenging environment. Coach Wilson has established his club as one of the best in the region by sharing that same philosophy. We are excited to work closely together to achieve that goal over the next three years and beyond.”

Como parte de este acuerdo, SYS continuará brindando apoyo administrativo a BVFC que incluye el trabajo del club con la ciudad de Somerville y su participación en la Liga de Fútbol de Clubes de Nueva Inglaterra. Boston Vigor continuará trabajando directamente con Somerville Youth Soccer en la expansión de sus ofertas de programas actuales tanto para niños como para niñas y mejorará las oportunidades de entrenamiento en nuestra ciudad a través de la sólida red de Vigor. El objetivo principal de ambas organizaciones sigue siendo el mismo: hacer que los niños de todas las áreas de la ciudad (y pueblos cercanos) jueguen juntos en el mismo campo de fútbol.
