New Appointee Brings Wealth Of International Playing Experience

Somerville Youth Soccer is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Connolly as the organization’s second Academy Instructor.  Coach Connolly will team up with Dean Williams to provide roving practice instruction throughout the fall and spring seasons for our travel program, which will also include player evaluations for each cohort.

Coach Connolly gained extensive international playing experience in his home country of Ireland, where he played with Galway United and won the All-Ireland Championship in 2011.  He was also part of the All-Ireland Premier Soccer finalist squad in 2013 and helped Renmore FC gain Irish Premier League promotion in 2017-18.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Kevin Connolly to the SYS family,” Somerville Youth Soccer President Dominic Lachowicz said of the appointment.  “He brings extensive knowledge about the sport to our organization, which will benefit players throughout our travel program and throughout all cohorts.  We couldn’t be happier to provide our families with Kevin’s expertise as we continue to provide resources to both our players and coaches for their continued development.”

A resident of Medford, Coach Connolly serves as a Senior Exercise Physiologist at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.  He also served as a camp counselor & clinician with Coast to Coast Soccer in California and is an avid nutrition & fitness advocate who competed in last year’s Boston Triathlon.

“Having both Coach Kevin and Coach Dean work together on providing valuable instruction and information is a win-win for our players and coaches,” SYS Director of Soccer Gregory Janks said.  “I’m looking forward to working with them as we plan for the upcoming season and beyond.  It’s an exciting time for our organization.”
