As we close out the Fall 2021 season, COVID cases are unfortunately continuing to impact the community. Somerville Youth Soccer has worked diligently over the past three months to provide communication and resources to our coaches and families in the event cases have impacted any teams, and we will continue to do so.

If you receive communication from any of your player’s families, coaching staff or an opposing coach regarding possible COVID cases or close contact identification, please forward that information immediately to SYS COVID Safety Officer Dr. Amy Bantham via email at covidsafety@somervillesoccer.us and please copy Executive Director Jim Seavey at executivedirector@somervillesoccer.orgAmy will continue to coordinate with the Somerville Department of Heath to perform contact tracing and help coaches notify families in the event of a close contact. She may need your help in obtaining information that will allow the Somerville Department of Health to clear your team to continue with practices and games, as well as information needed to comply with MA Youth Soccer COVID Notification procedures.

It is absolutely crucial for Amy to receive this information in a timely manner to coordinate her response.  Please do not assume that the Somerville School Department or the city’s Board of Health will communicate this information to her directly.

Please do not take any action on your own with any COVID situation until you notify and hear from Amy directly. SYS will continue to adhere to all COVID guidelines established by Mass Youth Soccer, the City of Somerville and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, which are subject to change at any time.

Thank you for your assistance and diligence as we continue to navigate this situation, and if you have specific questions at any time concerning COVID safety protocols, please contact Amy.
