Organizations To Collaborate On Visibility & Outreach Opportunities

Somerville Youth Soccer and East Somerville Main Streets today announced that the two organizations have formed a strategic partnership that will provide new visibility and outreach opportunities within the community.

As part of this partnership, SYS and ESMS will attain membership in the other’s organization and will collaborate on providing information, promotional materials, and visibility opportunities throughout the year.  Through communication via each organization’s website, social media platforms and publications, this partnership will enhance the missions of both SYS and ESMS, including the promotion of all ESMS businesses to both Somerville residents and those traveling to the city to compete against SYS teams during the respective fall and spring seasons of play.

Additionally, SYS is fully committed to collaborating on promotion and sponsorship of specific ESMS events while engaging the East Somerville community in providing more information about volunteer opportunities.

“We are honored to be strategically partnered with East Somerville Main Streets, and I can’t thank the ESMS board and Executive Director Lindsay Allen enough for this amazing opportunity,” SYS Executive Director Jim Seavey said.  “The East Somerville small business community is such a vital and vibrant part of our city, and it is an honor for SYS to help our neighbors continue to grow and thrive in the years to come.”

Founded in 1990, Somerville Youth Soccer provides an opportunity to participate in the sport of soccer as part of an organization comprising players, parents, volunteers, and corporate sponsors. As the largest youth sports organization in the city, SYS is devoted to providing training in the rules and regulations of the sport, encouraging the development of individual skills, promoting physical fitness, and fostering teamwork and fair play. Winning is fun and exciting but -- most importantly -- we want to teach our children that striving to do their personal best is what really matters most.  For more information on SYS, please visit www.somervillesoccer.org.

East Somerville Main Streets aims to improve the life of our community by building investment, connection, and pride in our main street.  ESMS works alongside local businesses to find strategies to address a wide variety of improvement needs.  A majority of the businesses that we assist are minority-owned micro-enterprises.  Some examples of Technical Assistance projects we've provided to local businesses include marketing and online presence, displacement assistance, business growth and expansion projects.  ESMS also engages in Neighborhood Placemaking Projects, which is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design, and management of communities.  Placemaking capitalizes on a local community's assets and potential, with the intention of promoting the overall health, happiness, and wellbeing of a neighborhood.  For a complete ESMS directory and information on the organization’s events, please visit www.eastsomervillemainstreets.org.
