Conway Park community meeting is Monday, Dec. 16 at 6:30 PM

The city of Somerville is looking at options for the remediation and renovation of Conway Park, and Somerville Youth Soccer desperately needs families to make their voices heard at a community meeting on Monday, December 16, at 6:30 PM at the Somerville Public Safety Building (220 Washington Street).

Used by a wide variety of Somerville youth and adult sports organizations, the athletic field at Conway has been closed for nearly two years now after pollutants were discovered in the soil. Somerville Youth Soccer is asking its member families to come out and urge the city administration and elected officials to get Conway Field back online as quickly as possible.

Previous athletic fields projects have gotten mired in grass vs. turf debates, and it's vital that the message be sent that the athletic fields situation in this city remains dire and that urgency is needed in this matter. Somerville's nine Grade 5 & 6 teams currently only have Argenziano Field as a U12-sized field and very limited access to Dilboy Stadium's U12-sized field, and the future of Argenziano Field is uncertain after it failed to stand up to extremely light usage this fall.

The children and adults of Somerville need Conway Park back open for use, so please come out to this vital public meeting and do your part to help make this happen!
