Become an SYS volunteer
There's a straightforward two-step process to joining Somerville Youth Soccer as a volunteer:
1. Register as a volunteer with us in SportsEngine.
2. Complete an adult registration with Mass Youth Soccer (You will authorize a background check and complete two training modules -- or show proof of previous completion -- as part of this registration.)

3. You must complete both the required SafeSport and the HEADS UP to Youth Sports Coaches: Online Concussion training courses as required by US Soccer, Mass Youth Soccer and the United States Government before volunteering. This training is MANDATORY and a volunteer credential cannot be issued until it is completed.
The 90-minute SafeSport training course must be completed by all new volunteers to the organization. If you are returning, you will be directed to complete a 30-minute refresher course ONLY.
Once both training courses have been completed, a certificate of completion will be generated and can be uploaded to your Mass Youth Soccer SportsConnect account. This will, in turn, generate your credential once the background check is completed. Your Mass Youth Soccer credential is good for one year (July 1-June 30).
